Hi, I’m Greg
I run Payroll of One by myself, and I’m a one-person business owner too. When nobody withholds your taxes, nobody tells you how much to set aside, when the IRS wants its money, or which write-offs are real. Most small-business advice assumes you have a team and an accountant. Nearly 30 million U.S. businesses don’t. This site is for them.
I’m building Payroll of One in public, from zero. As I set up the business side of this site, I’ll share what I picked, what it costs and what I’d skip.
How the content is made
- Primary sources only. Every tax number comes from the IRS, the Social Security Administration or another official source, linked in each article’s Sources section.
- The math is run, not guessed. Every example and calculator uses the same 2026 brackets, deductions and limits, checked against the IRS tables.
- Updated every January. When the IRS publishes the new year’s numbers, every chapter and calculator gets re-checked. Each chapter shows when it was last updated.
- Free to read, start to finish. No email wall. The newsletter is optional: deadline reminders and one short email a week.
How this site makes money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up for something through one, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never decides what I recommend or how I rank it, and no company pays to be included. Details are in the affiliate disclosure.
Not tax or legal advice
I’m not a CPA, enrolled agent or attorney. Everything here is general education to help you understand your situation and ask better questions. For decisions about your own taxes or legal structure, talk to a qualified professional.
